The second match for the Jammers went pretty smooth on May
14th. Hee-Sun Kim and Nancy
Winters at singles. Hee-Sun won over her
opponent, Gerri Mach, with the scores of 6-1, 6-2. Our little princess, Nancy, was also
victorious, an easy win over Michelle Rust with the scores of 6-0, 6-0.
Our doubles team of Beth Wilson and Suzanne Lennard had a
tougher time. They had an easy first set
over their opponents, Linda Donnelson and Nancy Skinner, with the score of 6-1. The second set wasn’t so easy; they
were falling behind, and lost the set with the score of 3-6.
In the 3rd set tie-break.
It was point by point, and it could have gone either way. But the luck was not in our favor that
evening, Beth and Suzanne lost with the score of 11-13.
Carol Rollins and Margaret Taylor had a tough match but hung
in there and come out victorious. They
lost in the first set to their opponents, Tijuana Julian and Maggie Smith,
5-7. Come back and win the second set at
6-4. For the 3rd set
tie-break, I guess they listened to their captain and remembered that ‘we do
not lose in a tie-breaker’. They
dominant over their opponents with the score of 10-1.
The doubles team of Heidi Smith and Julie Trout cruise
through their match. It was an easy
first set for them. They didn’t lose a
game over their opponents, Leah Clark and Lori Robinson, first set 6-0. On the second set, Heidi lost her focus a bit
and was waving ‘hi’ to people as they come by.
Thanks to her partner, Julie, who reminded her to stay focus, they won
the second set 6-3.
Two weeks and two win down for the Jammers. Next week, they will travel to Joplin as they
count down the chance to be at Sectionals one more time.
