Road Trip to Joplin-May 21, 2012

Ah…road trips…I love them.  The Jammers made their way to Joplin this week for their match against the High Strung.  The Jammers are so cool, even President Obama was in town to see them.  Well… okay, maybe he wasn’t in town for that reason, but hey, if he knew how extraordinary the Jammers are, I’m sure he would have made a detour and come to see us play.  Anything is possible I say…yes, the Jammers are that awesome!  How could they be anything less when I’m in charge? J

 

 

Even on the road, the Jammers were victorious.  In spite of the soccer fans that are playing on the field behind them, the Jammers managed to stay focus and come out with a win as a team. 

Teresa Emerson tried her hardest to ignore the distractions around her.  There were times, I’m sure she was ready to strangle the captain of the soccer team.  She stayed calm and beat her opponent (who looks like a child, as what TE refer her as) Julie Ingle, in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.

Kayla Ratliff was also victorious in her match.  She won her match in straight sets with the scores of 6-2, 6-4 over Christi Higdon.

Our doubles team of Carol Rollins and Beth Wilson were having a hard time for the evening.  They were struggling in the first set against their opponents, Tammy Hunter and Beth Sellers.  They lost in the first set 2-6.  They knew they had to make some changes in the second set to stay in the match.  They tried everything they could think of, but it was too late, they fail short and lost the second set as well with the score of 4-6.

Heidi Smith and Kelly Kramer were a little disappointed with themselves over how they played over the weekend in a fund raiser tournament so they were ready to play against the High Strung team.  Indeed they were, they dominant their opponents, Mary Kirkpatrick and Kim Higdon, in straight sets 6-2, 6-1.

Our dynamic duo, on and off the court, our doctors team of Hee-Sun Kim and Margaret Taylor strike again.  They also won their match in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 against Karen Talbot and Stacey Iorio.    It’s that Asian Caucasian persuasion that they have going on! 

Three matches down and 6 more to go.  Next week is Memorial Day; the Jammers will not be playing, they will have a week off.  Some of them will be traveling to Bentonville, AR  June 1 – 3 to play in the Spam Slam Tournament.  Good luck to those Jammers!

The Jammers team next match will be June 4^th against the Slice Girls once again, so wish them luck.
